Sclerosing Stromal Tumor: A Rare Ovarian Neoplasm
Ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors are relatively infrequent neoplasms that account for approximately 8% of all primary ovarian neoplasm. Sex cord-stromal tumors of the ovary include granulosa cell tumors, fibrothecomas, Sertoli-Leydigcell tumors, steroid cell tumors, and sclerosing stromal tumors (SST). Sclerosing stromal tumors account for 2% to 6% of ovarian stromal tumors. Despite the rarity o...
متن کاملPelvic spleen masquerading as an ovarian neoplasm.
A case of a 53-year-old perimenopausal woman who presented with an 18-month history of irregular vaginal bleeding is reported. Vaginal ultrasonography revealed a 10 x 7 cm pelvic mass with an increased blood flow. Her serum CA125 was within the normal range. At laparotomy a normal spleen was found within the pelvic cavity.
متن کاملLeiomyoma with Degeneration Mimicking an Ovarian Neoplasm
Leiomyoma of the uterus is the most common tumor of the female pelvis, arising from the uterine smooth muscle. Its prevalence increases during the reproductive age and is seen in nearly half of the women over the age of 35 [1]. Large myomas with degenerations located towards the adnexa may mimic an ovarian neoplasm and can impose a challenge in its diagnosis. Radiological modalities like ultras...
متن کاملMacroamylasemia attributable to gluten-related amylase autoantibodies: a case report.
BACKGROUND Macroamylasemia (MA) is a benign condition caused by circulating macroamylase complexes of pancreatic or salivary amylase bound to plasma proteins, which cannot be cleared by the renal glomeruli. In most cases, the macromolecular amylase represents a complex of normal amylase and either immunoglobulin A or G and may be a specific antigen-antibody complex. Celiac disease (CD) is a per...
متن کاملXanthogranulomatous Oophoritis Mimicking an Ovarian Neoplasm: A Rare Case Report
Xanthogranulomatous inflammation of female genital tract is uncommon and is usually seen in endometrium. Only a few cases involving the ovary have been reported. Its clinical manifestations, imaging modalities, and gross features can mimic ovarian malignancy. Thus, a preoperative diagnosis of this entity is important to avoid radical surgical treatment. We report a case of xanthogranulomatous o...
